NEW
- Visit Scarlet's blog
to ask her questions about the music, inspiration, recording, singing
and whatever other random stuff comes up.
We do randomly update our page at MySpace
too..
Where
did you guys come from?
Earth.
Don't
I know one of your members from another band?
Yes,
you've seen us in other bands - check our bio
for details.
When
are you going to tour my town?
We
travel randomly -our gig page will have
updates, and the myspace
page might be updated too.
What
style would you call your music?
Um...
how 'bout Eclectic neo classic rock with a hint of progressive influence,
a dash of pop sensibility, and visionary undertones (?)
I've
heard a bunch of rumors about Scarlet's past: visions, deadly accidents,
wild investors, weird relationships, pseudonyms, aliases - what's
the true story?
Scarlet's
smiling, but she's not talking. Yet who knows? You might get her
to answer if you ask directly at her blog.
Where
do those lyrics come from?
Scarlet
often lets the lyrics "come to her" either inspired by
Brian's guitar riffs, or from dreams. A little over half the lyrical
content is directly from dreams. Want to know more about the lyrics
and other random stuff? Visit Scarlet's blog, at ScarletJinn.com.
Can
I get a copy of the lyrics?
Lots
of people seem to be asking for the lyrics! The next CD will have
lyrics included. Some of the lyrics are now posted on our new
lyrics page .
What
inspires the musical riffs?
Brian
is constantly coming up with riffs from deep within the recesses
of his unconscious - the tunes just keep on comin'!
Who knows what is going on in there? He has also recently been dreaming
parts for his solos - taking a cue from Scarlet?
What's
up with the violin bow?
Brian
uses the bow on occassion for a variety of sounds with his guitars,
especially during the solo sections of "Deseree" live.
How
come Brian uses so many pedals?
Brian
is a self described vintage "pedal geek". :-) All we know
is that he loves to create sounds, textures, and is on the ever
expanding quest for more excellent sounds. Visit Brian's
site for more vintage gear stuff.
At
the live show I noticed your bassist doing these crazy riffs and
noticed he has a collection
of vintage looking stuff - what's up with this guy?
Michael
is truly a one-of-a-kind human being and bassist. He's usually got cool vintage gear and you never know what he's gonna do. Most bands he's
played with haven't let him go wild. We sorta do - within
reason...
What's
Crystalline Sunshine about?
hmmm,
a state of mind?
Your
drummer is amazing, what's his story? And who are his influences?
Richie
is super versatile, but John Bonham and Neil Peart are probably
the most obvious influences. Lately he's been into Tool and Dream
Theater.
Where
can I get the CDs?
We're
currently sharing our MP3's for free downloads
and will be pressing another CD. When we do, it'll be for sale here
at rockscarlet.com and shows. The old 04 CD is sold out and probably
won't be reissued since the band membership has changed. The band
may also have copies of the 2005 3 song demo CD available at gigs
at various times, and random copies of other recordings, including
live.
II
love what I'm hearing on the radio, but then I saw you live. You're
one of those bands whose live show is really great, even better
than the recordings! Any chance of a live recording?
We
hear that alot and are thinking about setting up to capture some
live energy with an engineer at a local show. If that happens
we'll release some of our live recordings in the future.
I've
heard there's a video - can I get a copy?
We're
working on the video but we're focused on the new CD and, you know,
life. When it's ready we'll post a clip, and eventually it'll be
for sale on DVD here at rockscarlet.com. There are two: an old one
(Crystalline Sunshine) and one from 08 (Wayside) posted on youtube
and our videos page.
Can
I get a copy of the original 04 CD?
nope,
sorry -they're sold out, although there still may be one or two
floating around in your local CD stores.
